Image
G Alright alright alright. Well well well. Today, my dear music makers and enthusiasts, your one and only Greg Zeroin will chat with none other than Mr. Mike Euphamas, from Star Overnight, one of the biggest online music promoters of these strange times. Mike, can you make me famous overnight? M Greg, I think you are already doing pretty well climbing that ladder up to the night sky.. G That was very kind of you to say… M But, if, up in your sleeves you have recorded music that you wish to share online through streamer services? Absolutely, man, we’re there to support you and drive your chariot up on the Milky Way for all to see. G Fantastic, so, let’s say I have a just released single or EP on Spotify and every other major music streaming service but nobody seems to care about streaming it. What shall I do? M Wonderful. You already made a tiny mistake though, because you should have hired us to release your material through some secret shortcuts straight on the tracks to

Problems with my genre identity

Image
G Howdy folks Greg Zeroin here from Sci-fi music. Today, I have a guest who is kind of upset about her genre identity, right? I I am furious! (laughs) G Ladies, gentlemen and beyond, I give you Imogen Reballion and her wrath. Imogen what made you this mad? I Right. I am indeed enraged, because of the genre game in music. I have been playing music since childhood and I compose and record pieces all the time… G Good. In what musical genre are you working? I You see? That’s the first question people come up with once you tell them you do music. G Well, perhaps they wish to form an idea about your work and they need a little help to place it somewhere on the vast landscape of music somewhere. I Well that is too bad, because I am not on the landscape they have at hand. G You cannot name any genre to specify your style? I Guess what, I cannot. And I am tired of people giving me the looks for it and suspecting or implicating that it is my fault. That I should be able to

How to avoid recognition in music?

Hi, this is Greg Zeroin from Sci-fi Music. Today I will post a rather unusual conversation with a professor and researcher of sociomusicology, who happens to be a musician as well, Dr. Jacob Scuro. G Jacob, how did you find yourself this research topic of avoiding recognition in music? J It is rather simple. As a musician, I had a hard time avoiding recognition and I wanted to learn more about it. How to achieve and keep obscurity have become something of an obsession to me. G Okay, let us go back to the beginning. How avoiding recognition has become an issue for you? You know, most people think that musicians actually desire recognition and they struggle to get into the spotlight somehow. J They do. Yes, I am painfully aware of that. But I am not convinced that it is their fault entirely. When you look at it closely, you realize that the whole system of music presentation and distribution is biased or even blatantly geared towards putting the musician behind the storefront w

How self-listening musical albums work?

Image
Hello Sci-fi Music followers, Greg Zeroin here with more tech news. The following update is a response to our readers request. We recently published an interview with Rob Ottman from SLR Inc. Even though Mr. Ottman did a wonderful job telling us about self-listening technologies, our readers started to bombard us with requests for more details. Mr. Ottman was kind enough to pass it on to the SLR development team and one of the lead engineers, Nick Almeca took upon the task of giving us more information. Since we could not arrange for an interview, Nick sent us this information in an email, which I just copied here in its entirety. “Hi there Greg, greetings to all Sci-fi Music readers. We’re grateful for the opportunity to tell you more about our inventions. As I understand, your readers were most interested in the background mechanism of a self-listening album. I hope I can clarify some of the details. Once such an album is released, a macro gets activated in it. In the first step thi
